Mercedes-Benz 170 S Cabriolet A 1947

1947 Mercedes 170S Cabriolet A Chassis number: 13604204388 Swiss Registered. Under the current ladies ownership for several decades, the time has now come for her to part ways with this Mercedes 170S Cabriolet A. The car had a full restoration in the 1970's & since then has been regularly but sparingly used whilst sharing a garage with all kinds of more exotic machinery including a Gullwing & a 300S cabriolet. The restoration took place in 1983 though 1988 at which time it was like new. Since then it has been owned solely by the current owners. Being a cabriolet it is simplcity in itself to lower the hood, simply break the pram irons, undo two latches & back it folds in seconds. The car is finished in Maroon with the paint in very good order. To the interior is original Mercedes leather to the seats in patinated but very useable conditon. The lined canvas roof is also in good order but would respond well to a deep cleaning as it has accumulated some are related dirt over the years. The door cards are new items as the old ones were past saving. Very tidy under the bonnet, the car started on the first turn during our visit despite not having run during the winter months. On the road the car drives extremely well & has been used mostly for local trips & occasional rallies in the Swiss alps & some tours of France. A large history file comes with the car detailing the extensive restoration done to it. It is now exuding a light patina of use as opposed to a showroom new feeling to it. This is a very reliable & useable car that has been properly serviced & kept in mechanically tip top order. Viewings are by prior appointment near Montreaux Switzerland.
