Starting in 1933, Mercedes-Benz brought a new middle class car to market with the Mercedes-Benz 200. It replaced the successful model Stuttgart from the 1920s. There was an immediate desire to increase engine power so the model 230 was created. It was manufactured successfully until 1941. In parallel, there was already the new 230 (W 153) which had been introduced at the Berlin Auto Show in 1933. Chassis and body were entirely new. Due to the war, this model remained rare and is a very sought after classic today. The post war models 170 S and 220 were direct descendants from the W 153.
Our Mercedes-Benz 230 is the magnificent Cabriolet A, built in 1940 with a first registration in Oslo in 1941, confirmed with a copy of the service handbook. Since 1988 this rare car has been been owned by is current owner in Germany. Its FIVA identify card allows participation in important oldtimer events. This Mercedes is registered in Germany and immediately drivable!
