SALES INFORMATION
This unique SS 1 Coupe was delivered on June 9, 1933 by the English dealer Fogdens, to John Manning, Essex. John had to pay the amount of 325 pounds, and owned the car till 1954, when George South, who also lived in Essex, became the second owner. He kept the SS until 1970 and sold it with 78.809 miles on the odometer to Delbert Mortimer from Michigan USA. Nice detail is that according to the original invoice, which is also present, the crossing to the USA was by cargo boat called “Atlantic Champagne” and the transport costs were $ 321. American Mortimer provided the body with new paint in the color cream with brown wings. Then in 1975, Richard Nordin, also from Michigan, took over the steering wheel. After 15 years, the crossing to Europe was made again and Nordin sold in 1990 the car to mister Haehnle from Switzerland, who passed in 2012 the keys on to Mr. Mooser also living in Switzerland.
The above shows that the entire history of this SS 1 Coupe is extensively documented, including the complete restoration that was carried out in Austria from 2004 to 2009. Many photos and invoices attest to a very professional restoration where originality and perfection were the goal. An exception was made for the color, which was originally black with a brown interior. The current (and also original SS color) Apple Green, makes the SS even more special and emphasizes the beautiful lines extra.
At the moment, the SS, built in only 1372 pieces, is part of an impressive SS / Jaguar collection and is now for sale because this collector owns a second Coupe and doesn’t want two because of the lack of space.
