Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC 1978

With the introduction of the new Mercedes 350 SL series R 107 it was speculated that there would soon be a longer Coupé version. There certainly was a market for a sporty, 4-seater Coupé. The idea was to compete with the BMW 3.0 CSi or the Citroën SM. The 350 SCL was introduced at the Paris Salon in October 1971 and starting in March of 1973, the 450 SLC was available. In total, 62,888 cars of all engine types were built and almost all of them were exported. Compared to the Roadster, the Coupés of this series are affordable and its large volume V8-engine makes them balanced and attractive.
