Alvis 12/60 1931
Historic car for sale

Dealer (DE)

This beautiful Alvis 12/60 Beetleback, 2 Seater Sports, was delivered from the Alvis factory in Convetry to Messers. Follet of London on 23rd May 1931. It was originally registered as GO 5770 but lost this number when the car was shipped to New South Wales, Australia in late 1931. The car was “re-discovered” in the late seventies sitting in a Sydney car dealers’ showroom. After the protracted negotiations the car was finally brought back to the United Kingdom and restored by S.V. Restorations of Sleafored, Lincs.
It was eventually purchased by Stan Hicken of Burton Joyce, Notts (documentation from 1990) who Ultimately part exchanged it for a three-litre Bentley. The next owner, Mr. Busson, drove the car for a few year and sold it to Mr. Richard Berry from Greece.
We have documentation showing that the Alvis has been in Germany since 2013. It was first acquired by a collector from Bavaria who sold it to its current owner, a pre-war collector from the region Stuttgart.
In 2021 the Alvis was partially restored in Germany by the company Schulth Classic Cars, a renowned specialist for these pre-war beauties. It’s in a mint condition and has a fair amount of documentation from 1990 until today.
The Alvis has just received a complete and thorough check by the company Hagenlocher Classic Cars. It is freshly serviced at the highest standard and is now ready for its new owner.
** History of the Series**
Commencing in 1923 and making a successful competition debut the same year, the Alvis 12/50 was to become highly regarded by the sporting motorists of the period.
Noted for its good handling, brisk performance and robust qualities, the 12/50 was joined in 1931 by a more powerful version – the 12/60. Featuring twin SU carburettors, this new model developed 56 bhp and, as before, was available in sports salon, four seat tourer and ‘beetleback’ two seater variants.
When road tested by ‘Motor Sport’ magazine in 1931, an impressive top speed of almost 80 mph was achieved.
The vehicle is located in our showroom in Stuttgart-Plieningen, close to the airport/trade fair. A test drive and an inspection on the car lift are possible by arrangement.
The sale takes place on request with new inspection, service and TÜV. We also offer a wide range of accessories for your new dream car. If required, we can also deliver the vehicle to you in a closed trailer.
Opening hours: Mon - Sat by appointment
