Description:
Mercedes-Benz presented the Type 220 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1951. The 220 Cabriolet A was and still is considered the most beautiful model of the entire series. Lush upholstery, decorative woods in the interior and flashing chrome on and in the vehicle lend this cabriolet the dignified elegance that for decades was associated with Mercedes-Benz automobiles. The 80 hp output enabled a top speed of 145 km/h, making the 220 one of the fastest cars on German roads at the time.
Between 1951 and 1955, a total of 1,278 Cabriolet A models based on the 220 (W 187) were produced.
The vehicle presented here was completely restored a few years ago by the Kienle company. For 30 years now, the convertible has been in the hands of the current owner. Under his direction, the car has been continuously maintained and optimized in specialist workshops. According to the available data card, the current colouring corresponds to the delivery. This Mercedes model is still one of the most elegant cars that were built entirely by hand in the 1950s. Its extremely quiet running promises technically what the beautiful lines suggest.
