The ‘original model’ of the W111 series was introduced in 1961. In 1969, the model with the 2.8-litre engine was launched on the market as a ‘flat radiator version’ with a slightly different appearance. This model was also offered with the completely newly developed 3.5 litre V8 engine on request and at extra cost. Only 3,270 units were produced.
