Mercedes-Benz 450 SL 1973

Sport Leicht. This is what SL stands for in the Mercedes-Benz realm, and these rock-solid, elegant Grand Touring machines have one of the most recognizable model names in sports cars. The 107 series was built from 1971-1989 and consisted of the R107 and C107 (roadster and coupe, respectively). Over 300,000 units came out of the southern German factory in Sindelfingen, undeniably making this one of the most recognizable SLs on the market. The vast majority were sold in the USA, which was Mercedes' primary focus at the time. In the last 5-6 years, the value of the 107 series has exploded, transitioning from a cheap sports car to a rather serious card in the classic car club.
This 450 SL is a roadster that started its life in the USA back in 1973. The designation 450 refers to a 4.5-liter V8 with approximately 225 horsepower. It is finished in a lovely Pine Green Metallic (862) over a matching green interior, a new black soft top, and equipped with 14 Baroque wheels. A fantastic and unmistakably 70s specification!
The car has been completely restored and painted in its original color by a Mercedes specialist in Santa Clara, California. Full documentation is included. It was later imported to Germany, where an equally enthusiastic Mercedes owner drove and meticulously maintained it. Over 100 pages of documents and invoices, original books, etc., accompany this beauty. The sound from the potent 4.5-liter V8 is smooth and free of noise, with the 8 cylinders working in perfect harmony for the ears and driving pleasure. It simply exudes quality in true Mercedes fashion. A matching Pine Green hardtop also accompanies the car.
All in all an excellent example of a future legend. Prices for the 107 series are still steadily rising, and for many, it epitomizes the Mercedes SL. Simply a whole lot of classic car for the money, and guaranteed to be one of the more stylish and satisfying car investments you can make at the moment.
