A historic version of one of the oldest car races in the world, an original design that alternates timed races on the road and on the circuit, meticulous organization and a unique atmosphere: the Tour Auto is one of the rare events in the world that any enthusiast of historic motors cannot miss.
LE TOUR AUTO: MORE THAN THREE DECADES OF HISTORY
Created in 1899 by the Automobile Club de France, the Tour Auto is the oldest automobile competition still in operation. Having become one of the most prestigious rallies in the world, it attracts legendary brands such as Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar, Mercedes, Maserati, Matra driven by equally renowned drivers such as Maurice Trintignant, Stirling Moss, Phil Hill, Bernard Darniche, Jean Pierre Beltoise, Henri Pescarolo… In the 1980s, the economic hardships linked to the oil crisis weakened the event and in 1986 the fiftieth and last edition of the Tour Auto took place, at least in its version at the time.
The re-proposal in 1992 (already more than thirty years old!) of this event in the form of a historical retrospective was immediately a great success. Three years were enough to give life to an event that has become one of the most important automotive events in the world for major collectors.
