Lincoln Premiere 1957

This year the Premiere replaced the Capri as the top model. The cars had been thoroughly overhauled. The tailfin models now had a forward sloping leading edge, the headlights had barges and the side chrome strips had a Z-shaped insert at the rear doors. The bodies – a four-door sedan, a two-door hardtop coupe and a two-door convertible – were lengthened by approximately 75 mm compared to last year's models. Like its sister models, the Premiere had an overhead V8 engine with a displacement of 6030 cm³, developing 285 hp (210 kW) at 4600 rpm. Engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission.
The bodies received a significant overhaul. Two additional headlights were installed below the main headlights. The tailfins were dramatically enlarged so that the taillights were angled rearward at a 30° angle. The side chrome strips were straight again, but had an integrated V in the area of the rear fender tips. The front and rear windows are designed as panoramic windows. In addition to last year's three body styles, a four-door hardtop sedan was added.
The power of the unchanged large engine increased to 300 hp (221 kW) at 4,800 rpm. Electrically adjustable seats, electric windows, power steering and power brakes were standard equipment from this year onwards.
The model we present here is a beautiful Premiere, finished in light blue with a blue leather interior. The tires are of the white wall type and the chrome still looks very nice. It has always been ridden and the technology is still in good condition. This model is very popular in the USA.
