Borgward was a German automobile manufacturer, founded in 1929 by Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Borgward (1890-1963) in Bremen. In 1937 the first car with the Borgward brand was presented: the Hansa Borgward 2000, which in 1939 became more simply Borgward 2000. The 2000 was joined by the 2300, in production until 1942. During the Second World War the Bremen company produced heavy vehicles for the Wehrmacht and railway engines, until the Sebaldsbrück plant was destroyed by bombing in 1944.
