Nash Motors was an American automobile manufacturer that operated from 1917 to 1954. From 1917 to 1938, it was independent, and from 1938 to 1954, it was part of the Nash-Kelvinator Corporation. Nash-branded automobiles continued to be produced from 1954 to 1957 under the American Motors Corporation.
Nash had several firsts in the history of the automobile: it was a pioneer in building body-on-frame vehicles and was the first to install a heating/air conditioning/ventilation system, with a general layout that is still used by today's automobiles. It was also the first to install seat belts as an option and was the first to categorize its range in the way that some American automobiles are classified today, that is, compact, subcompact, and muscle car.
