Puma was a Roman automotive company specialized in custom-built cars and founded by Adriano Gatto, active from the seventies to the nineties, which resumed its activities in 2005 with the production of prototypes at the Poggio Fiorito plant on Nomentana. The first model produced was the Gatto Spider Spiaggia, created in 1968 in an artisan workshop located in Ronciglione (VT) by modifying a dune buggy purchased after a trip to the USA.
The company produced dune buggies, sports cars and off-road vehicles all based on the Beetle chassis, as well as carrying out special transformations of this same car and the Ford Transit van. It also made some dragsters and electric cars in the 1980s.
